Mastrotto, one of the largest leather producers in the world, with operations in Brazil focused mainly on exports to the Asian and European markets, faced challenges in managing and receiving electronic tax documents in the SAP ERP. With a focus on improving efficiency and tax compliance, reducing input errors and data discrepancies and, above all, automating the MIGO and MIRO processes,* in ERP, Homine Tecnologia presented Mastrotto with the HomSoft – a proprietary solution, developed in-house, that automates the entry of electronic tax documents such as commercial invoices, service invoices and bills of lading into SAP, thus being an affordable alternative adapted to Mastrotto’s specific needs. This case study details the steps and benefits of this implementation.
At Mastrotto, tax documents such as commercial invoices (NF-es), service invoices (NFS-es) and transport documents (CT-es) were received, processed and recorded manually in the SAP ERP. This created the need to automate these operations and reduce dependence on these manual tasks that impacted tax accuracy and compliance, as well as efficiency in receiving invoices, in addition to taking up a lot of the team's time.
Faced with these challenges, Homine implemented HomSoft, a solution that automates the receipt of electronic invoices in the SAP ERP, including, in Mastrotto's case, the reception of NF-es, NFS-es and CT-es. HomSoft, negotiated in this case without licensing costs, only for the project, was adapted to meet Mastrotto's specific needs, with four customizations being made to the solution, in addition to other improvements.
“One of the changes we requested from Homine was to adapt HomSoft to the measurement units of our product, as we received the raw material, the leather, quantified in square meters, and we carried out the MIGO, or the entry into SAP, by the number of corresponding pieces, being necessary to calculate the conversion factor per batch.”, explains Elenilton Mota, IT specialist at Mastrotto. “With this customization, HomSoft automatically converts these units of measurement when executing MIGO in the ERP”.
The implementation of HomSoft, which began in September 2023 and was completed in 2024, was led by a team of five professionals from Homine, who sought to promote a fluid integration for Mastrotto's tax processes.
According to Elenilton, manually receiving invoices took up a lot of time for the tax team, which worked from entering the data to checking the tax document against the Purchase Order (PO), ending with the execution of MIGO and MIRO in the ERP. “The parent company in Italy needs the fiscal balance closed by the deadlines every month and this deadline was a challenge for the team, which dedicated many hours to the fiscal release of all the invoices and the closing of the month”, says Elenilton. “With HomSoft, this processing and receipt time for tax documents in SAP fell by around 70%, making closing much faster, with less rework and greater tax compliance, since the tool checks all tax data automatically before executing MIGO and MIRO in the ERP”.
José Geraldo Garcia, CIO and Director of International Accounts at Homine, comments on the implementation: “Our team worked dynamically to meet Mastrotto’s needs and adapt HomSoft to suit the needs of the client, always meeting the schedule established with the client.” According to the CIO, Mastrotto's trust in Homine's work is also reflected in the contracting of other services and solutions, such as the implementation of an automatic supplier payment system in Mastrotto's SAP. “New services are a testament to the quality of our deliveries”, concludes José Geraldo.
The implementation of HomSoft has enabled a series of advances in Mastrotto’s tax operations. The main results include:
Time optimization: Time dedicated to tax collection fell by approximately 70%, meaning the team can work on more strategic activities, freeing themselves from repetitive and time-consuming tasks;
Cost reduction: Automating processes reduces the risk of errors and rework, reducing costs associated with corrections and delays;
Tax compliance: HomSoft ensures that the invoices received comply with the legislation, avoiding fines and penalties;
Operational efficiency: The integration of HomSoft with SAP ERP simplified the tax operation and optimized the workflow, improving productivity and ensuring greater accuracy in tax records.
The implementation of HomSoft was a strategic step for Mastrotto, as it brought modernization and high efficiency to its tax collection operation, in addition to greater agility and precision. As a result, the solution provided significant savings and simplified processes, ensuring Mastrotto a more integrated, economical, fast and secure operation..

(*) MIGO, or “Movement in Goods Out”, is an SAP transaction for recording the entry and exit of goods, that is, what has left or entered the inventory. MIRO, “Movement In Receipts Out”, records the tax receipt of a transaction, indicating that the invoice data is correct and payment to the supplier and tax collection can be carried out.
